Croatian director to shoot film in Kyrgyzstan, Gerard Depardieu starring

Bishkek, Feb. 25, 2020 / Kabar /. Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic Azamat Zhamankulov met with producer of the LECA production Slovak film studio Andrei Antonio Leka. According to the press service of the Ministry, at the meeting the sides discussed the planned filming of "Human Face" by Croatian director Lordan Zafranovich. The protagonist of the historical film will be the statesman, political and public figure Alexander Dubcek, whose childhood was spent in Kyrgyzstan. The Slovak side informed that Kyrgyzstan is the second most important country in the film, as the film is biographical and much attention is paid to Dubcek’s childhood. “World-class actors became interested in the film, and French actor Gerard Depardieu will play one of the roles. Filming in Kyrgyzstan is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2021. The film will be launched in world distribution in 2022, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Dubcek,” said Antonio Leko. In turn, the minister expressed hope that Kyrgyzstan, its nature and culture would be given an important place in the film. Antonio Leko assured of his readiness to present the country's tourism potential in the film and show it to a European audience. He also emphasized that the film will interest both the young and the older generation. Following the meeting, the sides expressed their willingness to cooperate in the field of culture and tourism, expressing the hope that filming would be one of the first steps to further fruitful cooperation.
