Kyrgyzstan marks Day of National Flag

Bishkek, Mar.3, 2020. /Kabar/. Today, Mar. 3 Kyrgyzstan celebrates the Day of the National Flag. On this occasion, Ala-Too Square in the centre of the Kyrgyz capital hosted the solemn event with the participation of the leadership of the Bishkek Mayor’s Office. One of the main symbols of the Kyrgyz statehood marks its 28th anniversary. Bishkek Mayor Aziz Surakmatov congratulated the citizens on this remarkable day. In his speech, he wished the country peace, unity and development. "On this day, Mar. 3, for the first time the national flag of our country, the color of which is similar to the color of Manas the Great, soared sky high. The flag is our national pride and a symbol that creates in the heart of every Kyrgyz citizen a sense of responsibility, patriotism, love of the homeland, desire for unity, cohesion and creative work. It also inspires our people and encourages them to preserve and protect the honour of the country," the mayor said. This year marks 28th anniversary from the date of the approval of Kyrgyzstan’s national flag. It was approved by Jogorku Kengesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) on Mar.3, 1992.
