Malaysian Fashion Debuts At Pure London

KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 (Bernama) -- Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) recently led a business delegation of 10 companies on an export acceleration mission to United Kingdom's (UK) leading fashion trade show, Pure London. Its Lifestyle and Life Sciences director Naim Abdul Rahman said MATRADE’s inaugural participation was part of the agency’s efforts to advance exports of Malaysian fashion to Europe. “Malaysia’s fashion products comprising mainly of textiles, apparel and footwear form the largest export segment with an export value of RM15.5 billion in 2019. “European countries represent 11.5 per cent of Malaysia’s exports with the top five export destinations being Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, UK and France,” he said in a statement, Tuesday. Among Malaysian fashion brands featured at Pure London held from Feb 6 to Feb 12, 2020 at Olympia, London were Mimpi Kita, Yingen Batik, Hida-Yeat, Ulfa, Wirdora and Sarlaz. Naim said the delegation also participated in special programmes including briefings by European fashion experts and exploratory visits to Dover Street Market, a high fashion retail centre in London to provide market insights on the latest fashion trends in the UK. Meanwhile, MATRADE London trade commissioner Megat Iskandar Ahmad Dassilah said Malaysian companies had the advantage of networking and meeting potential buyers from all over the European Union region, especially with more than 17,000 trade visitors converging at Pure London. “I am happy to note that Malaysian fashion products and accessories were very well received during the event,” he said. -- BERNAMA
