NINE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS KILLED IN CAR ACCIDENT IN E JAVA

Malang, East Java Province, April 16 (ANTARA) - A Daihatsu Taruna van hit a tree and the impact killed nine university students in Batu city, East Java, in the wee hours of Thursday.

The students, aged between 23 and 29 years old, were from the Malang Islamic University (Unisma), the Malang Muhammadiyah University (Unmuh), the Merdeka University (Unmer), and the National Institute of Technology (ITN).

According to a security guard of the villa in the Songgoriti resort area earlier rented by 17 students including the nine involved in the road accident, the students arrived at the villa on Wednesday at 10 p.m. in two cars and several motorcycles.

A few hours later, some of the students went out in a car after the security guard had asked them not to turn on music too loudly.

However, on Thursday, at around 1 a.m., the security guard received news that nine of the students were killed in the road accident.

He later informed four students who stayed at the villa and they immediately left the villa after receiving the bad news. The 17 students rented the villa to celebrate a birthday of one of them.
