SOME STIMULUS FUNDS STILL WAITING FOR HOUSE APPROVAL
Jakarta, April 17 (ANTARA) - Stimulus funds for 100 of the 145 budget entries allocated in the Public Works Ministry are still waiting to be approved by the House of Representatives (DPR), a cabinet minister said.
"Funds for a total of 45 budget entries have been approved by the House while funds for the remaining 100 others are still pending," Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto said here on Friday.
He said that the 145 budget entries were to be funded by stimulus funds amounting to Rp3 trillion which were included in the Public Works Ministry's budget. Another Rp3.6 trillion funds were included in districts/municipalities' budgets.
The minister said that disbursement of the funds for the 45 budget entries was now waiting for the completion of the administration process at the finance ministry.
"There is now problem with it as it will soon be included in the 2009 List of Development Projects (DIPA). It still waits the process of another 100 entries with the DPR," the minister said.
He said that a stimulus fund of Rp700 billion was allocated for the directorate general for water resources which would handle the food-hit Bengawan Solo river.
Some others will be allocated for existing road and bridge projects. "We will directly use the funds for the road and bridge projects as soon as they are disbursed," the minister added.***
