CANCER PREVALENCE IN YOGYAKARTA HIGHEST IN INDONESIA
Yogyakarta, Apr 17 (ANTARA) - The number of cancer patients in Yogyakarta was the highest in Indonesia, an executive of the Indonesian Cancer Foundation (YKI), local chapter, Emi Putraningrum said here Yogyakarta Friday.
She said that according to the Yogyakarta Health Agency, the cancer prevalence in Yogyakarta reached 10%, higher than that of other provinces in the country.
The high number of cancer patients in Yogyakarta is closely linked to the relatively high life expectancy in the city, reaching an average of 74.2 years, while cancer often struck a person normally after 40 years of age.
He said the cancer often suffered by women is breast cancer and cervical cancer, and most common on males is cancer of the lungs and prostate.
