ARABSAT approves to launch four satellites in 2009

SANA'A, April 18 (Saba)- Minister of Telecommunication and
Information Technology Kamal al-Jabri, and his accompanying
delegation, have come back to Yemen after concluding the 32nd round
of Arab Satellite Communications Organization (ARABSAT) held
recently in Beirut.

The minister indicated that the round discussed the annual report of
the organization's Board of Directors and the final account for 2008
as well as approving the organization's general budget for 2009. It
also discussed investment projects which are supported by ARABSAT in
2009.

He noted that the round agreed to launch four satellites in the
current year, indicating that the round discussed and evaluated the
level of implementation of projects implemented by ARABSAT.

Al-Jabri made clear that he agreed with officials of Arab
Organization for Telecommunications Satellite (ARABAST) to link
internet services to Yemeni islands and the reminding of Yemeni
regions.

It has formed two teams from the Public Telecommunication
Corporation (PTC) and the Arab Satellite Communications Organization
(ARABAST) to determine the requirements and the required services
such as internet, telecommunications and information to Yemeni
regions that have not received services, Al-Jabri revealed.
