Jeenbekov: COVID-19 morbidity peak in Kyrgyzstan is forecasted for second half of April

The peak incidence of COVID-19 coronavirus infection in Kyrgyzstan is forecasted for the second half of April, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov said addressing a session of the Parliament. The head of state took part in the ceremony of swearing-in of new members of the Government, and then made a statement in connection with the situation with the coronavirus infection pandemic. As the President noted, along with other countries in the world, Kyrgyzstan is now going through a difficult test. The situation with the coronavirus in the country is not easy. "As you know, thanks to the tireless work of our doctors, we have cases of recovery among those infected with the virus. But the number of citizens infected is also increasing. Unfortunately, there are also deaths," Jeenbekov said. He added according to the forecasts of specialists, an increase in the number of infected people still lie ahead. "As experience in other countries shows, the number of infected people is decreasing after 35-40 days of quarantine. According to our specialists' analysis, the peak morbidity in Kyrgyzstan is forecasted for the second half of April", the President noted. The Kyrgyz leader stressed that solution to the current situation were discussed with parliament speaker and prime minister, adding that he has also consulted with heads of relevant state bodies and professional specialists. "I received comprehensive information about the current situation from the leadership of the Headquarters (the Republican Headquarters for Preventing Import and Further Spread of Coronavirus) and listened to their suggestions. All of them were unanimous in their opinion that observance of medical requirements and sharp limitation of interaction and contacts of citizens was the right step to take the situation under control," the President noted.
