Yemeni official meets UNDP expert



HADRAMOUT, April 19 (Saba) - Undersecretary of Hadramout governorate
for Wadi and Desert Affairs Ahmed al-Junaid met here on Sunday with
an expert of United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

During the meeting, al-Junaid was briefed on the UNDP contribution
to reconstructing the areas hit by a heavy rainstorm last October,
2008.

The UNDP expert introduced al-Junaid to the program's project of $ 3
million to contribute to rebuilding the affected areas.

The expert said that the plans and programs necessary for the
project would be put set up in the three-month preparatory period
prior to the implementation of the project that would last for three
coming years.

The necessity requirements and the project's priorities would be
identified in the preparatory period, the expert said.

He added that we would also consider the reports of UN organizations
and agencies on the affected areas' needs.

For his part, al-Junaid praised the idea of the project which based
on correct information, pointing out that the reports and statistics
of the international agencies and organizations such as UNICEF,
World Food Organization and the World Bank would help the province
to overcome consequences of this disaster.
