Yemen, Iraq talk on technical education cooperation



SANA'A, April 19 (Saba) - Yemen and Iraq talked here on Sunday over
the bilateral cooperation horizons between the two countries in the
technical and vocational education area.

Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training Ibrahim
Hajri held talks with Iraqi Minister of Higher Education and
Scientific Research Abd Thiab al-Ajeeli on the possibility of
preparing an understanding memo between the two sides in fields of
training, exchanging experiences and developing curricula in
addition to availing from the Iraqi experience in technical and
vocational education areas.

In the meeting, Hajri briefed the Iraqi Minister on the technical
education system in Yemen, which nearly contained about 73 training
institutions, including six community colleges with a capacity of
20,000 students.

He noted that about 40 percent of the teaching staff in the Yemeni
universities are Iraqis.

For his part, al-Ajeeli reviewed the Iraqi experience in the
technical and vocational education field, affirming Iraq's keenness
on pushing forward the historical bilateral ties and offering
different support to Yemen in the technical education filed.

The Iraqi Minister indicated the significance of setting programs
and unifying the education concepts between the two brotherly
countries.

At the end of meeting, the two ministers exchanged the commemorative
gifts.
