Kyrgyz Vice PM Ismailova meets with UN Resident Coordinator Ozonnia Ojielo

Bishkek, Apr. 20, 2020 / Kabar /. Aida Ismailova, Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, met with Ozonnia Ozhielo, UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic, the government’s press service reported. During the meeting, the sides discussed measures taken by the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic to combat the spread of coronavirus infection and joint plans for further cooperation in this direction. Vice Prime Minister Aila Ismailova emphasized that at the current stage, much attention in the activities of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic is paid to the health care system and social protection of the population. In addition, foci of the spread of coronavirus infection are being intensely localized, measures are being taken to minimize the number of infected people, and to treat sick citizens. The UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic, Ozonnia Ojielo, recalled that at a recent meeting with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, a productive exchange of views took place on the current situation in the country, and joint steps to counter the further spread of the infection were discussed. He also noted with satisfaction the message from the Head of State to the UN Secretary General, expressing support for the initiative of Antonio Guterres and his appeal to member states to join forces and launch a USD 2 billion Global Humanitarian Response Plan to finance the fight against the pandemic. In addition, Ozonnia Ojielo spoke about the ongoing joint work of various structures included in the UN system and relevant government agencies to combat coronavirus infection.
