ARAB SAUDI LAUNCHES CHANNEL-5 IN INDONESIAN



Jeddah, Apr 20 (ANTARA) - Saudi Culture and Information Minister Abdul Aziz Khoja will shortly launch channel-5 for foreigners in Saudi and Indonesian, Urdu and some other languages.

The Channel will have various programs like culture, religious lectures, news, and others, the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah for information, social and cultural broadcast Dharmakirty SP told ANTARA by a press release on Sunday.
The channel can be used not only by foreign workers but also by moslems doing the haj and umroh (minor haj).
On April 19, 2009, Al-Madinah daily carried a news that the Saudi culture and information minister planned to launch channel-5. This means that many Indonesians in Saudi are seeking for information, religious lectures and entertainment from the broadcast.
Right now, Dhrmakirty said, there is a Radio in Jeddah presenting special programs in Indonesian. The broadcast is in the air for three hours a day from 12.00 to 15.00 local time, or 16.00 to 19.00 in Jakarta.
