President familiarizes with progress in providing social support to population

Bishkek, Apr. 21, 2020. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov received Tuesday Minister of Labour and Social Development of the country Ulukbek Kochkorov, his press service said. Measures on rendering appropriate assistance to socially vulnerable layers of population and support to them in conditions of emergency and state of emergency were discussed. Jeenbekov reminded that the work on rendering targeted assistance to needy citizens in the present situation should be under special control, and urged to strengthen the work in this direction. At the same time, he drew attention to the adequate provision of social protection for people with disabilities and elderly people, who are the most vulnerable in this situation. The head of state noted the need to speed up the work to provide all citizens in need with humanitarian aid, to strengthen coordination among the involved state bodies and local authorities. President Jeenbekov also stressed the importance of strengthening feedback with citizens in need through existing platforms, including the use of modern digital technologies. Minister Kochkorov informed that 490 thousand citizens receive various social payments in the republic. He stressed that in order to help poor families and those who are experiencing difficulties, a 1227 hotline was opened, which receives up to 30 thousand appeals daily. In addition, an online 1227.tunduk.kg platform has been created, where citizens can also apply for help. The social development minister noted that according to the received appeals, lists are formed, which are then sent to local authorities to provide appropriate assistance. To date, 393 thousand applications have been received through these systems, of which 225 thousand were satisfied.
