HATTA RAJASA: VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDACY DEPENDS ON YUDHOYONO

Jakarta, April 20 (ANTARA) - Minister/State Secretary Hatta Rajasa has said he would let his possible vice presidential candidacy up to presidential candidate Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

"As the minister/state secretary, I have to be thankful a lot and not to burden the president. Just let the things like that up to the president so that we can work contentedly," Hatta Rajasa said at the presidential office here on Monday.

Rajasa has been rumored so far to have big opportunity among several figures to be Yudhoyono's running mate in the upcoming presidential election.

The National Mandate Party (PAN) Supervisory Board deputy chairman has been officially nominated by PAN to pair with Yudhoyono, together with Sutrisno Bachir and Amien Rais.

But commenting on his possibility to become Yudhoyono's runing mate, Rajasa said he had yet to think about it.

"Never did I think toward that direction. The party's decision is just the result of a friendship gathering and therefore it should be taken seriously," Rajasa said.

Asked about a rift in the body of PAN following the absence of its general chairman Sutrisno Bachir in a meeting at Amien Rais residence on Sunday night, Rajasa said it was not true.

"Differences in a political party is normal, but there is no rift in PAN. The party remains solid, its general chairman is Sutrisno Bachir," Rajasa said.***
