Jeenbekov expresses support for Mirziyoyev over dam burst at Sardoba reservoir

Bishkek, May 4, 2020. /Kabar/. Today, May 4, President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov talked over phone with Uzbek leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Jeenbekov expressed support for Mirziyoyev in connection with floods and a dam burst at Uzbekistan's Sardoba reservoir, the Kyrgyz President’s press service reported. The Presidents also exchanged views on further joint measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. The heads of state emphasized that in difficult moments, the brotherly peoples of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have always provided every possible support to each other, based on friendly and good neighborly relations between the two nations. In the morning of May 1, one of the dams of Sardoba reservoir in Syrdarya region had burst. 56 people were hospitalized, about 70 thousand people were evacuated to safe areas, 20 people were rescued from the roof of houses and trees, there were no victims. Several settlements were flooded, roads and agricultural lands were damaged.
