Foreign and Finance Ministries carry out work on restructuring the country's state debt - Aidarbekov

Bishkek, May 12, 2020 / Kabar/. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the Ministry of Finance are carrying out work on restructuring, converting or prolonging the state debt of the country,” said Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aidarbekov. “In light of the recent initiative of the Big 20 and the Paris Club to help vulnerable countries to suspend public debt servicing, the working group of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic, is working on restructuring the conversion or prolonging the payment of public debt, attracting the potential of our foreign institutions abroad,” he said. Also, the minister noted that the Foreign Ministry is pursuing a policy to stabilize the socio-economic situation in the country. Work is underway to attract grants, loans, humanitarian aid. “We highly appreciate the support from the Russian Federation, China, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, the European Union, the UN and other partners, as well as from the Kyrgyz diasporas and honorary consuls abroad and express our gratitude for the provided humanitarian assistance. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to attract finance in the Kyrgyz Republic in the framework of the fight against coronavirus and in order to ensure sustainable socio-economic development of the country,” Aidarbekov emphasized.
