BALI EXPORTS KERAPU FISH WORTH 5.81 MILLION US DOLLARS
Denpasar, Bali Province, April 21 (ANTARA) - Bali has sent fresh, frozen, and live kerapu fish worth 5.81 million US dollars to the international market in 2008, a 14.5 percent increase compared to the 4.44 million dollars worth of the commodity sent in 2007.
"Most of the commodity had been sent to Japan, followed by the United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, Germany, Italy, Australia, Thailand, and France," Head of the Bali Provincial Fishing and Marine Resources Agency Ir Anak Agung Gede Mahendra Putra said here Tuesday.
He said 1,602 tons of fresh kerapu worth 4.2 million US dollars had been exported in 2008, a 16.05 percent increase compared to the 1,458 tons worth 3.6 million dollars exported in 2007.
The frozen kerapu exported reached only 3.2 tons worth 5,991 tons, a 83 percent decline compared to the 15.8 tons worth 36,324 US dollars exported in 2007.
The live kerapu exported in 2008 reached 229 head worth 1,610,878 dollars, in terms of value up by 104 percent compared to 787,052 dollars of 228 head exported in 2007.
