JAKARTA TO COOPERATE WITH BOGOTA TO DEVELOP BUSWAY SYSTEM

Jakarta, April 21 (ANTARA) - The Jakarta city government is planning to cooperate with Bogota, capital of Colombia, in developing a Bus Rapid Transit system, Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo said.

But the cooperation will most likely be on how to improve the operation of the Transjakarta busway system by studying from "Transmillenio Bogota", Bowo said here Tuesday after receiving Indonesian ambassador to Colombia Michael Menufandu.

Bogota has developed the operation of its Bus Rapid Transit, while Jakarta was continuing to improve the operation of Transjakarta Busway, where the city administration has constructed eight corridors, he said, adding that Jakarta is a sister city of Bogota.
Bogota mayor wished to step up its cooperation with Jakarta and has invited Jakarta governor to visit Bogota, Fauzi Bowo quoted ambassador Michael Menufandu as saying.

"I will learn further substance of the two cities' cooperation," the governor said, explaining that Jakarta will also study about housing development from Bogota.

"Ambassador Michael Menufandu also told me how Bogota tries to lower criminal rate by activating inter people group communication," Fauzi Bowo added. ***
