Building on its huge Ramadan success, Heritage Committee working on second edition of “Al Sariya”

Manama, June 2 (BNA): Preparations for a second edition of the widely successful Ramadan television program "Al Sariya" are underway for next Ramadan, the chairman of the Popular Heritage Sports Committee has said. Khalifa Abdullah Al Qaood said that His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, National Security Advisor and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, fully supported the move. It follows the tremendous success of the program shot in cooperation with the Ministry of Information at the heritage Village, he added. "Al Sariya has achieved outstanding and unprecedented records," Al Qaood said. "The number of participations was 30,700,000 as per the official figures of the committee's media center in cooperation with the specialized team at the Information Ministry. There were 216,190 individual participants and 208 winners in the 33 episodes while 10 people won cars." Al Qaood said the ministry and the committee would partner to produce special programs related to Bahrain's heritage in line with HH Shaikh Nasser's plans to encourage young generations to discover and learn more about the various types and components of the popular heritage. "What has been achieved thanks to the directives, support and follow-up of HH Shaikh Nasser had a great impact on the success of the program and all the activities of the popular heritage sports committee of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports. HH Shaikh Nasser has a wise vision to preserve the popular heritage and revive the national heritage with its great importance in shaping the national identity." The program links the past and the present, and the most prominent customs, traditions and values that were related to the culture of the people of Bahrain, he added. "Al Sariya has reinforced the national identity and the values of loyalty and belonging to Bahrain," he said.
