MALAYSIAN PRIME MINISTER TO VISIT INDONESIA



Jakarta, April 22 (ANTARA) - Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Sri Mohd Najib will make an official visit to Indonesia on April 22 to 23.

On his first visit to Indonesia after his inauguration as Malaysia's prime minister, Mohd Najib will meet with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, presidential spokesman Dino Patti Djalal told newsmen here on Tuesday.
His meeting with Yudhoyono is scheduled for Thursday, followed by a bilateral meeting between the two countries' delegations.
Djalal said a state dinner was also scheduled to be held on Thursday evening in Najib's honor.
Najib will also meet with Vice President Jusuf Kalla, chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly Hidayat Nur Wahid and House Speaker Agung Laksono.
Najib was inaugurated as Malaysian prime minister on April 3, 2009 to succeed Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
During his visit to Indonesia he would be accompanied by his ministers of foreign affairs, defense, trade, transportation, home affairs, plantations, agriculture and manpower.
Before becomming prime minister Najib often visited Indonesia in the framework of increasing the two countries' relations. He last met with President Yudhoyono as deputy prime minister on June 2, 2008.
Trade between the two countries from January to December 2008 was recorded at US$15.3 billion, up from US$11.5 billion in the same period in 2007.
Malaysian investment in Indonesia in 2008 reached US$363.3 million rising from US$217.3 million in 2007.
