POLICE TO RECRUIT THOUSANDS OF NEW OFFICERS THIS YEAR

Denpasar, Apr 22 (ANTARA) - The police school of petty officers (bintara) in different parts of Indonesia is this year once again accepting applications.

A total of 5,000 bintara police cadets will be accepted this year for training at these schools for nine months, Bali police spokesman Senior Commissioner Gde Sugianyar said in Denpasar Tuesday.
He said priority will be given to regions with one police officer for every 1,000 persons. In other words, regions with very few police personnel will be given priority for the new recruits, he added.
This year the police academy is also expecting at least 300 police cadets, and the school of police inspectors planned to accept 100 applicants
The applicants for the police academy need to be senior secondary school (SMA) graduates, while applications for inspectors should have an S-1 (university graduate) and S-2 (post graduate) diplomas, he said.
The training for S1 and S2 graduates will last one year and four months, and SMA graduates will have to follow three years and four months, he said.
