RI RAISES ISSUE ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN GENEVA



London, Apr 22 (ANTARA) - Multilateral Relations Director General at the Foreign Ministry Rezlan Ishar Jenie said Indonesia has raised the issue of human trafficking and worker protection in the domestic sector at the World Conference of Racism and Racial Discrimination in Geneva.

The conference at Durban Review Conference held until April 24 is attended by the vast majority of UN member countries, regional and international organizations, as well as hundreds of civil society organizations, First Secretary of the Indonesian Permanent Representative in Geneva Benny Y.P Siahaan said in London Tuesday.
The presence of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Namibian Prime Minister Nahas Angula, and 33 ministers, 25 deputy ministeres, and minister-level officials, as well as 250 non-governmental organizations, was to prove their strong commitment to the meeting.
In the conference, Indonesia played a constructive role in preparing the implementation of the Conference as one of the 20 member countries of the Preparatory Committee of the World Conference.
Indonesia was also elected as DRC Vice President among with 20 other countries to help the tasks of the DRC President in making a success of the conference.
