Foreign Minister participates in OIC Executive Committee extraordinary meeting

Manama, June 10 (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, participated in the extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee at the level of Foreign Ministers of the Member of States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The virtual meeting was chaired by Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Executive Committee, HH Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud, with the participation of foreign ministers of the member of states of the Committee, and the OIC Secretary-General Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al Othaimeen. In his speech, Al Zayani praised the sincere efforts made by Saudi Arabia during its current presidency of the OIC, expressing appreciation for the kind efforts made by the Secretary-General in serving Islamic causes. He also praised the efforts of the employees of the General Secretariat in organizing the extraordinary meeting to discuss the aggressive plans of the Israeli occupation government aimed at annexing parts of the occupied Palestinian state, including the Jordan Valley, the northern Dead Sea, and the lands on which the Israeli settlements are built. The unilateral actions by the Israeli occupation government are a violation of international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions, and have serious repercussions on the security and stability of the Middle East region and the world as a whole, Al Zayani said. They are an addition to the Israeli record of crimes and violations against the Palestinian people and their capabilities. Al Zayani reiterated Bahrain's firm and permanent stance regarding the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on its national soil, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the necessity of an immediate cessation of Israeli annexation and settlement operations, stressing the need for the brotherly Palestinian people to obtain all their inalienable rights, achieving a just and comprehensive peace, as a strategic option, in accordance with the relevant United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. The minister called on the international community, the United Nations, and the Security Council to assume legal, historical and moral responsibility, ensure the enforcement of international law and international legitimacy decisions in the occupied Palestinian territories, condemn arbitrary Israeli policies and practices against the Palestinian people, their land and sanctities, and prevent their implementation that clash with the logic of truth and are inconsistent with the principles of justice. The meeting emphasized the centrality of the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem to the Islamic nation, warning that Israel against annexing any part of the occupied Palestinian territory. The meeting considered Israel’s threat to annex parts of the occupied West Bank, including the Jordan Valley and the land on which it was built, the colonies and the wall, an official announcement to cancel all agreements it signed, an end to negotiated settlement and a dangerous escalation of its colonial policies and procedures, a blatant attack on the historical, legal and political rights of the Palestinian people, and a violation of the UN Charter, principles of international law, relevant UN resolutions and rules of international law. The meeting held the Israeli occupation government fully responsible for the consequences of its colonial policies and procedures in the occupied land of the State of Palestine, including the results of its grave announcement of annexing parts of the occupied Palestinian state, which intentionally weaken international efforts to achieve a just, lasting and comprehensive peace based on a two state solution, undermine the foundations of peace and push the entire region towards more violence and instability with serious consequences for the stability and security of the world as a whole.
