Incheon Int'l Airport wins world's best airport award
PORTO, Portugal, April 21 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's Incheon International
Airport, the gateway to Seoul, has again been chosen as the world's best airport
in the latest customer satisfaction survey conducted by the Airports Council
International (ACI).
In an annual ACI awards ceremony held in this Portugese city on Tuesday, Incheon
International Airport won the coveted Best Airport Award for the fourth year in a
row, while Singapore's Changi Airport and Hong Kong International Airport
received the second and third prizes, respectively.
The ACI annually listed 108 airports worldwide with points awarded on the basis
of a survey of passengers on 34 aspects of service, operation and facilities.
Incheon also claimed the top prizes in three other categories, namely Best
Airport in the Asia-Pacific, Best Airport in the mid to large range (25~40
million passengers) and the Airport People Award for the Asia-Pacific Region.
The ACI, an association of 1,679 airports in 177 countries worldwide, has
unveiled its evaluations of major international airports since 1993. Incheon
ranked top in the ACI survey in 2005 for the first time.
"The fourth consecutive win is attributable to support from the South Korean
government and concerted efforts by 35,000 airport employees," Lee Chae-wook,
president of Incheon International Airport Corporation, said at the awards
ceremony held in Porto, Portugal.
