Qatar Planning and Statistics Authority Highlights Most Important Social and Economic Statistical Changes in the State in May
Doha, June 30 (QNA) - The Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) has published a new issue of the "Qatar: Monthly Statistics" bulletin, which highlights the most important social and economic statistical changes that occurred in the State during May, in addition to extracts from the results of the 2015 census.
Among the most prominent changes highlighted by the bulletin is the decrease in the number of ships coming to Qatar ports last May to (321), with a monthly decrease of 14.6% compared to the previous month of April, and with an annual decline rate estimated at 39.1 percent compared to May 2019 .
The bulletin data indicates an increase in electricity consumption by about 24.8 percent from April of this year, while consumption decreased by 5.5 percent on an annual basis, and water consumption increased by 12.6 percent between April and May, an annual increase of 4.6 percent.
Statistics show the decrease in building permits issued in May by 43.9 percent compared to the previous month of April, while the annual decline rate was 58.9 percent .
The number of real estate sold decreased by 16.3 percent on a monthly basis, and with an annual decrease of 45.6 percent.
The number of traffic accidents cases without counting non- injuries accidents reached 333 cases during May 2020, registering a monthly increase of 0.9 percent. Light injuries recorded the vast majority of these cases at a rate of 90 percent, followed by severe injuries at 7 percent, while deaths reached 11 deaths, by 3 percent only of the total traffic accidents.
With regard to new registered vehicles, the bulletin indicated that the total of registered vehicles amounted to 1878 vehicles during the aforementioned month, registering a monthly decrease of 25.9 percent, an annual decline of 66.8 percent.
Regarding the banking sector, the value of the wide money supply reached (2) about QR 583.4 billion , an annual increase of 5.1 percent compared to May 2019, while the value of the semi-cash that includes commercial bank deposits reached about QR 864.4 billion, an annual increase of 7.2 / percent, where the total deposits at that time reached about QR 806.3 / billion.
