Awareness campaign on early marriage dangers to be implemented

SANA'A, April 22 (Saba)- Democracy School will implement, in
cooperation with Secretary General of Child Parliament and Child
Care Organization next week an awareness campaign on the dangers of
early marriage and the age of safe marriage.

The two-week campaign includes a field survey which would be
implemented by members of Child Parliament in different governorates.

The awareness program would focus on health and social impacts that
come out of the early marriage and it would distribute more than
20,000 awareness bulletins on the cases of early marriage and its
dingers.

The Democracy School is preparing to collect next May1 million
signatures of parents to request an article in the Law of Personal
Status to determent the marriage age.

The campaign, implemented in cooperation with the Dutch embassy,
also includes distributing awareness materials on the dangers of
early marriage and organizing a symbolic march for children to hand
over the signatures for the Parliament.
