Lotte Shopping Q1 net falls 15.4 pct on one-off factor

By Nam Kwang-sik

SEOUL, April 23 (Yonhap) -- Lotte Shopping Co., South Korea's largest department store chain, said Thursday its first-quarter profit fell 15.4 percent from a year earlier due to a one-off factor.

Net income came to 192.3 billion won (US$143 million) in the January-March
period, compared with 227.3 billion won a year ago, Lotte Shopping said in a
regulatory filing.
Sales, however, grew 7.3 percent annually to 2.8 trillion won, with operating
profit rising 11.5 percent to 228.8 billion won.
Shares of Lotte Shopping were up 0.23 percent at 215,500 won as of 9:52 a.m. on
the Seoul bourse.
"We saw a fall in the first-quarter net income as the year-ago earnings were
boosted by the sale of three shopping malls," company spokesman Lim Hyung-wook
said.
