INDONESIAN OFFICIALS FOLLOW PORT MANAGEMENT TRAINING IN HAMBURG

London, April 23 (ANTARA) - Some 20 government and private company personnel, such as from regional development agencies, transportation ministry and some private enterprises in several cities in Indonesia, are now attending port development, management and operation courses in Hamburg, Germany.

The 2-month course will be concluded in May 2009, the Indonesian Consulate General in Hamburg disclosed on Thursday.
During the course, all the Indonesian participants and three from Timor Leste met with Economic and Port Affairs Minister Ralf Nagel at Bremen City Hall and Indonesian Consul General Teuku Darmawan.

The German minister said the course was the realization of a cooperation between Indonesia and Germany in the transportation sector.

This time the training is focused Indonesia and Timor Leste, he said.

Teuku Darmawan in his address on the occasion hailed the training course which was started 10 years ago.

He hoped the program could be enhanced in the coming years as the result could not only increase the role of ports, but improve the quality of human resources as well.
