S. Korea to hold investor relation meeting in New York



SEOUL, April 23 (Yonhap) -- South Korea will hold an investor relation (IR) event
in New York next week as part of efforts to promote the nation's economy and
policy action to tackle an economic downturn, officials said Thursday.
Vice Finance Minister Hur Kyung-wook will spearhead the IR event which will be
held on Monday, ministry officials said. He will leave for the U.S. on Friday to
participate in annual IMF meetings in Washington ahead of the event.
The IR will be used to promote South Korea's economy and its policy actions aimed
at countering the worst downturn in more than a decade to global opinion leaders.
On Saturday and Sunday, Hur will attend IMF committee meetings in Washington to
exchange opinions with his counterparts from other nations on world economy,
financial market conditions and ways to strengthen the role of the organization,
they added.
