ALMS BODY CHANNELS RP50 BILLION TO NEEDY CHILDREN

Jakarta, April 23 (ANTARA) - The 'Rumah Zakat' alms body has since its establishment in 2008 collected and channeled Rp50 billion to children of needy families, Rumah Zakat program manager Jaya Saputra said.

He said that the alms body was intended to increase its assistance to the needy children in the future in line with the growing trust the people had with Rumah Zakat.

Jaya Saputra whose areas covered Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang and Bekasi (Botabek), said that his body would continue to increase its assistance based on the programs it had made.

On Thursday, Rumah Zakat provided assistance worth Rp50 million in the form of scholarships for needy family members of Astra Honda Motor.

The Rp50 billion is about 20 percent of alms the body has collected since 2009.***3***
