GOLKAR PARTY CHIEF RECEIVES WIRANTO

Jakarta, April 24 (ANTARA) - Golkar Party general chairman Jusuf Kalla, who is also Indonesia's vice president, received People's Conscious (Hanura) Party Central Executive Board (DPP Hanura) chairman Wiranto at the Golkar office in Slipi on Friday.

Wiranto was received by Jusuf Kalla in the company of Golkar Secretary General Sumarsono and the party's executive Syamsul Mu'arif, while the DPP Hanura chairman was accompanied by the party's cadres Jus Usman, Bambang Soeharto, Fuad Bawazier, and KH Aziddin.
The meeting between Jusuf Kalla and Wiranto was to discuss a coalition in facing the upcoming presidential election.
After a special leadership meeting here on Thursday, Syamsul Mu'arif said Golkar Party had decided to name Jusuf Kalla its presidential candidate who would contest the July 8 election.
Mu'arif said Golkar had ordered Kalla to set up a special team for communications with other political parties.
In response to the party's decision, Kalla said he was ready to carry it out and expressed appreciation for the mandate.
"As the party chairman I have been assigned to conduct communications (with other parties) with the obvious purpose of exploring (coalition possibilities), and I will start doing that today," Kalla said.
