SRI MULYANI: ECONOMIC PROGRAMS STILL RUNNING

Jakarta, April 24 (ANTARA) - Coordinating Economic Minister/Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has said that various economic programs would continue to be implemented despite the social and political tensions lately.

"This government will still be going on and guard what needs to be guarded, of course from the point of view of the decided program sustainability, they will not be effected because all ministers and the departments have the mechanisms to run those programs," Minister Sri Mulyani said here on Friday.

The minister earlier witnessed the signing of credit to fund the constructions of 13 Thermal Power Plant (PLTU) projects having a total electricity production capacity of 10,000 MW worth Rp4.73 billion.

The credit agreement was signed by state electricity company PT PLN and Regional Development Bank (BPD) at the finance ministry building here on Friday.

The minister said she would look at the condition and the dynamism of the ongoing economic development for the economic policies in general.

"So far, I think from the policy point of view, there is no affect, and so from the focuses and works of the ministers," she said.

She said she kept on focusing her attention on economic indicators and other important matters during coordinating meetings.

"Over the past few weeks, we don't feel any change in the ministers' activities and bureaucratic activities. I hope (the political dynamism) will not have significant affects," she said.

Meanwhile, she appreciated the involvement of BPD in financing the PLTU development projects. It was a progress for BPD which has previously seen as not playing a significant role in the national economic activities, she said.

She hoped BPD would also monitor the implementation of the project development in order to make sure that they would be completed on time and useful for the people.***
