BOYCOTT OF PRESIDENTIAL RACE TO TARNISH DEMOCRACY: STUDENTS
Jakarta, April 24 (ANTARA) - Tens of students grouped in the Savior of the Nation Front held a rally at Hotel Indonesia roundabout here on Friday criticizing parties which were threatening to boycott the upcoming presidential elections.
Demonstrators carried banners which among others read: "Boycotting Presidential Elections will Tarnish Democracy."
They said that threats to boycott the presidential race would only disadvantage small people who had been tired of conflict and were willing to enjoy peace.
For that purposes, the Savior of the Nation Front asked political elites to pay attention to the interest of the people, not their individual interest to grab power.
They also called on parties who were often bickering and waging wars of polemics through the media to reconcile.***
