Priyanka Tikoo

Warsaw, Apr 24 (PTI) Taking time off her busy schedule,
Indian President Pratibha Patil visited the Warsaw Uprising
Museum and paid homage to the fallen heroes of Poland who
fought valiantly against the Nazis during the World War II.

"What I have seen here has deeply moved me......" was how
Patil described her Thursday's visit to the museum, which
depicts various stages of the famous uprising of Polish
people.

The President, who is here on a three-day state visit,
was offered a guided tour of the museum, which was opened on
July 31, 2004, following which she paid homage to those killed
in the uprising by lighting a candle.

"...The patriotism and bravery of Polish men and women
who did not hesitate to sacrifice their lives for the sake of
their country is an enduring inspiration for all. The museum
is a magnificent tribute to their bravery and heroism," Patil
wrote in the visitors' book. PTI
