Thumbs Up From Malaysian Moto3 Rider After Surgery On Little Finger
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's Moto3 rider Khairul Idham Pawi successfully underwent surgery on the little finger of his right hand in Barcelona, Spain on Tuesday.
The Petronas Sprinta Racing team said in a statement today that the operation lasted about two hours and that the 21-year-old would undergo further medical check-up on Monday (Aug 31).
Khairul Idham, who is fondly known as Super KIP, had initially injured the finger at the Spanish Grand Prix last year. He immediately underwent surgery in Spain.
The rider then injured the finger again when he crashed during qualifying for the Czech Republic Grand Prix on Aug 8 and that led to him being rested from taking part in the Styria Grand Prix last weekend (Aug 23).
The rider, who was delighted to see the operation go smoothly, is now vying to make a quick return at the San Marino GP (Sept 11-13) at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy.
“In my mind, I have visualised returning for the race in Misano, but we need to wait and gauge the recovery process.
“At least we have a small break in the calendar now, so this will help me. I will work and train hard these two weeks to make that return possible,” said Khairul Idham, who also thanked the medical team for the successful operation.
