Govt keens on developing natural disaster risk management: al-Arhabi




SANA'A, April 26 (Saba) - Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul
Karim al-Arhabi affirmed here on Sunday the government's keenness on developing an
institutional construction for the natural disaster risk management.

During his meeting with the World Bank's delegation, the Minister al-Arhabi was
briefed on the Natural Disaster Risk Management's program and the arrangements for
enhancing Yemeni potentials in natural disaster risk management, hailing the efforts
WB exerts to assist Yemen in this regard.

For his part, Head of WB's delegation Sameh Wahba reviewed a detailed presentation
on the Natural Disaster Risk Management's program, which included the pre-disaster
phase, consequences reduction and developing the early-warning for risk management.

The WB's Expert Mr. Jan affirmed the significance of consultative work between WB
and the government in this field.

He pointed out the partnership between Yemen and WB after assessing aftermaths of
the floods disaster hit the eastern governorates of Hadramout and Mahrah last year,
when the WB allocated an exceptional grant of $35 million to Yemen to overcome the
consequences of this disaster.
