Fire breaks out at refugee center killing 3-year-old child

DHALE, April 26 (Saba) – A massive fire broke out Saturday at a refugee center in
Dhale province killing a three-year-old child and injuring several others.

Firemen tackled the blaze which Civil Defense said a flame might have caused which
came from a tent whose owners were preparing a meal.

The fire ravaged a number of tents and houses made of aluminum at the center.

Authorities launched an investigation.

It was recently established to cope with the influx of African refugees, mostly from
African Horn countries, into Yemen which says over 700.000 displaced people have
already reached its territories. African migrants usually reach Yemen via sea where
many drown as boats capsize or when smugglers force passengers to swim in deep
waters.

The UNHRC says more than 130 African migrants drowned so far this year while trying
to get Yemen.

Dozens went missing.

Recently, the Interior Ministry warned of consequences of the influx of African
migrants into Yemen, taking strict measures including plans to shut Yemen sea
passages before migrants.

Earlier, Yemen said it had planned to deport illegal migrants to their homelands in
a move that comes as the flow of African migrants into the country lays more burdens
on its fragile economy.
