RI, TAIWAN INTENSIFY AGRICULTURAL COOPERATION
Jakarta, April 27 (ANTARA) - Taiwan will continue extending its transfer of technology in agricultural field to Indonesia to intensify the two countries' agricultural cooperation, a statement said.
This effort is aimed among others to intensify the use of modern agricultural technology in a bid to boost horticultural industrial growth, the Taipei Economic and Trade Office Indonesia said in its press release obtained here Monday.
In addition, the cooperation was also be intended to create an effective marketing system in a bid to increase farmers' income to improve their standard of living, and turn out best quality food products, the release said.
The Agribusiness Development Centre at the Bogor-based Agricultural Institute (ADC-UF-IPB) in Cikarawang, Bogor district, West Java, was a form of cooperation between a Taiwan Technical Mission (TTM) and the IPB.
The Taiwanese government through the International Cooperation Development Foundation (ICDF) sent TTM with ten agricultural experts to Indonesia, which has been operating in the country in the past 33 years.
On this kind of cooperation, ITB provided agricultural plot of land and equipment, while TTM prepared agricultural program, prime seedlings, and hardware funds which had reached US$500,000, the release added.
