President returns after week-long trip to Spain, Poland
New Delhi, Apr 27 (PTI) President Pratibha Patil Monday
returned home after a week-long visit to Spain and Poland
during which India signed bilateral agreements with the two
European countries to strengthen the economic ties.
Patil, who became the first Indian head of the state to
visit Spain, held wide ranging talks with Spanish King Juan
Carlos and Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodrigeuz Zapatero and
signed three agreements in the field of agriculture, tourism
and renewable energy.
The two countries also agreed to work on a comprehensive
strategy to tackle terrorism.
India also signed two agreements with Poland in the
fields of medicine and health and tourism.
During her stay in Poland, Patil visited the University
of Jagiellonian in Krakow and offered India's help to the
institution to start a course in Ayurveda.
She also visited the Wawel Royal Castle, a historic
residence museum in Poland. She paid homage to the victims of
the Auschwitz concentration camp. PTI
