Seoul stocks start weaker on U.S. falls
SEOUL, April 28 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks got off to a weak start Tuesday on overnight Wall Street losses, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) dropped 2.89 points, or
0.22 percent, to 1,336.94 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
U.S. markets lost ground on Monday as the outbreak of fatal swine flu damped
investor sentiment. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 0.64 percent and the
tech-laced Nasdaq shed 0.88 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,349.45 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15
a.m., down 6.05 won from Monday's close.
