PRESIDENT ASKS LABOR DAY DEMONSTRATORS NOT TO DISTURB SECURITY

Jakarta, April 17 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked labor unions intending stage rallies on Labor Day on May 1 not to disturb security and order in the country.

Addressing the audience of Cooperation Institute (LKS) of National Tripartite at the State Palace here on Monday, President Yudhoyono let the workers to stage a rally on May 1 as an expression of certainty in the democracy.

"Please, but in a proper manner without disturbing political security and stability, because it is an expression once a year in the democracy," Yudhoyono said.

The president said the LKS National Tripartite was established to find solution of problem in manpower affairs between employees and employers, and to give opinion to government in relation with manpower issue.

Therefore the president expressed hope that the LKS National Tripartite could carry out its function well with cooperative manner to protect the real economic movement and to improve the workers welfare.

Cooperative manner, according to the president, would be beneficial for both the employers and the employees.

President Yudhoyono on the occasion was accompanied among others by acting Coordinating Minister for Economy Sri Mulyani Indrawati, State Minister for State Enterprises Sofyan Djalil, Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu, Industry Minister Fahmi Idris, and National Police Chief Gen Bambang Hendarso Danuri.
