PUBLICLY LISTED STATE ENTERPRISES CONTROL 31.88 PCT OF CAPITALIZATION MARKET

Jakarta, Apr 27 (ANTARA) - The Office of the State Enterprises Ministry has noted that the market capitalization of 15 publicly listed state enterprises at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) in April 2009 reached Rp373.74 trillion, up compared to the Rp250 trillion in 2004.

"The open capitalization of the state enterprises market reached 31 pct of the total capitalization at the BEI market," State Minister of State Enterprises Sofyan Djalil said during a hearing with Commission VI of the House of Representatives in Jakarta Monday.

Sofyan explained that of the 15 publicly listed state enterprises, PT Telkom has the largest capitalization reaching Rp139.10 trillion, or 11.87 percent of the total capitalization of state enterprises.

Then came Bank BRI with Rp57.07 trillion, or 4.87 pct, state gas distributor PT PGN Rp53.39 trillion, or 4.56 pct.

Twelve other state enterprises controlled 10.58 pct share capitalization valued at Rp124.18 trillion.

With regard to the planned privatization of a number of state enterprises through an initial public offering (IPO) at BEI in 2009, Sofyan said it could not yet be realized due to the adverse condition of the share market.

"Right now the market is still not favorable, we will be publicly listing if the composite index is above 2,000 points" he said.

A number of state enterprises which will undertake an IPO in 2009 are Waskita Karya, Garuda Indonesia, Pembangunan Perumahan, BTN, Krakatau Steel, PTPN III, IV dan VII, Asuransi Jasa Indonesia dan Rekayasa Industri.

But only Garuda, Waskita, BTN and Pembangunan Perumahan (PP) had secured a House approval.
