TELKOM SEEKING US$100-MILLION LOAN FROM VENDORS
Jakarta, April 27 (ANTARA) - State-owned telecommunications firm PT Telkom is seeking a loan of US$100 million from one of its vendors, Huawei or ZTE, to finance its capital expenditures (Capex), Telkom president director Rhinaldi Firmansyah said.
"Actually, the loan platform from external sources is already enough to finance our capital expenditures but if there is an offer from the vendors it would be better because it would reduce the portion of bank loans," Rhinaldi Firmansyah said here on Monday.
He said that at present Telkom was holding talks with vendors from China such as Huawei and ZTE. "We are holding talks with a number of vendors in an effort to obtain loans for our 2009 capital expenditures," he added.
The Telkom president director said that his company had set a budget of US$2 billion for its capital expenditures in 2009. The composition of the funds would be 70 percent from internal sources, and the remaining 30 percent from external sources.
Apart from loans from vendors, PT Telkom was also studying the possibility of issuing bonds. But Rhinaldi was not yet able to mention the value of the obligations his company was going to issue.
"We are discussing all options and we will see later which of the options are the best," he said.***2***
