INTERNATIONAL SUMO AND JUDO FESTIVAL WRAPS UP IN BAKU
Baku, April 28 (AzerTAc). The first international sumo and judo festival in the Baku Olympic Sport Complex ended on Monday.
Chief of Baku city Youth and Sports head office Ragif Abbasov said the event would contribute to popularizing sports among the youth.
President of Azerbaijan Sumo Federation Samir Abdullayev expressed confidence that the event would provide impetus for the development of sumo in the country.
The 2-day festival brought together athletes from Azerbaijan, India, Sri-Lanka, Georgia, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Turkmenistan and Russia.
Azeri athletes Rashad Kazimov (85kg) and Nizami Jafarov (115 kg) took the first place.
