SRIWIJAYA AIR TO USE BOEING 737 AT MUSI RAWAS

Musi Rawas, S Sumatra, Apr 29 (ANTARA) - The domestic airline company Sriwijaya Air will soon operate a Boeing 737 at Silampari airport, Musi Rawas regency, South Sumatra.

Silampari airport as of September 2009 will also handle commercial airline companies, from which Sriwijaya Air will fly over the Lubuklinggau-Jakarta route. Within this context, a Memorandum af Understanding (MoU) had been signed by the Musi Rawas regency administration and PT Sriwijaya Air in Jakarta Friday.

Head of the Musi Rawas Transportation and Information Agency Mansyur Daniel said Tuesday that the airline company is still awaiting the completion of a 2000-m runway at the Silampari airport.

"Sriwijaya Air will prepare the equipment, including navigation equipment, to enable a Boeing 737 to land at Silampari," he said.

He said Silampari already has a 1,400-m runway which is 30 meters wide, and is therefore still 600 short.
