Hyundai Mipo Q1 net down 4.8 pct on slumping orders
SEOUL, April 29 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co., a unit of Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., said Wednesday that its first-quarter earnings fell 4.8 percent due to a slump in new orders.
Net profit reached 124 billion won (US$92.7 million) in the January-March period,
compared with a profit of 130 billion won a year earlier, the company said in a
regulatory filing.
Sales increased 28 percent to 1.06 trillion won over the cited period, while
operating income dropped 32 percent to 92 billion won, it said.
Shares of Hyundai Mipo closed at 143,000 won on the Seoul bourse, up 3.62 percent.
Hyundai Heavy is the world's largest shipbuilder.
