Chopper case witness died of multiple fractures, injuries

Mumbai, Apr 29 (PTI) Preliminary post-mortem report in
the mysterious death of Bharat Borge, the man who found
pebbles in the fuel tank of industrialist Anil Ambani's
helicopter, has revealed he died due to multiple fractures and
injuries, police said here in India's financial capital.

Government Railway Police (GRP) said they received the
initial report late Tuesday night and were recording
statements of railway gateman and other persons concerned.

The GRP officials said they are treating the case as an
accidental death.

Borge, who was a technician with Airworks company, was
found dead on the tracks between Vile Parle and Andheri
suburban stations, apparently after being run over by a local
train Tuesday evening.

Borge's body has been sent to Satara, his native place in
Western Maharashtra, where the funeral will take place.

Mumbai Police Joint Commissioner Rakesh Maria and
Additional DGP (Railway Police) K P Raghuvanshi Tuesday said
Borge's death was a case of suicide. Maria also said the
motorman and the guard of a fast local saw the victim cross
the track even when the train was fast approaching.

According to GRP sources, the letter recovered from
Borge's person said some people from "Reliance" came to
question him. It was not clear to which of the Reliance group
he was referring and whether he felt they would harm him.

Borge's undated letter, written in Marathi and addressed
to a police inspector Bhobade also said he had done nothing
wrong.

Borge was among the first persons to have spotted the
fuel cap of Ambani's helicopter open on Thursday last and on
inspection found pebbles and gravel inside.

Police sprung into action after a senior pilot of
Reliance Transport, Captain R N Joshi, in his complaint to
the police alleged that it was clearly an attempt to murder
Anil Ambani.

Meanwhile, Borge's family members have sought a CBI probe
into the incident and the mysterious circumstances surrounding
his death, saying being an ex-army personnel he was too strong
to have committed suicide. PTI AG
