M'SIAN STUDENTS JOIN EXCHANGE PROGRAM AT MUHAMMADIYAH UNIVERSITY
Yogyakarta, Apr 29 (ANTARA) - Seven students of the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyah of Law of the International Islamic University of Malaysia (AIKOL-IIUM) are participating in a student exchange program at the Law Faculty of Muhammadiyah University of Yogkarta (UMY).
"Planned to last for one month, the program is to be filled with academic activity on lecturing materials especially at the law faculty of Huhammadiyah Universisty," a spokesman for the Muhammadiyah University, Iwan Satriawan SH MCL, said here on Wednesday.
The program is also able to provide a chance to the students wishing to make career in international level in addition to being a form of their care in identifying and introducing Indonesian law to foreign students.
"By creating a certain international atmosphere in the campus, it is expected the program will be able to inspire the spirit of other university students to learn and get mingled with foreign students in upholding a mutual understanding," he said.
According to him, understanding the law of another country was important for students of law school in addition to learning Indonesian law.
Even judicial models of Indonesia still adopted that of Dutch legal system with Malaysia adopted the British model, the two models could in fact enrich more comprehensive legal knowledge.
The two models would be helpful to the students to broaden their knowledge in making comparation in hope of being able to take the best in making such a policy.
"With the two different models of judiciary, the students will be able to broaden and enrich various knowledges pertaining to legal studies which will be a good asset for them in taking the right decision," he said.
In return, as a follow of the students exchange program, the university will also send six students to participate in similar progrom at AIKOL-IIUM in July 2009 for a month.
