RI NEEDS TO OPEN TOURISM INFORMATION CENTERS ABROAD

Yogyakarta, April 29 (ANTARA) - Indonesia needs to open tourism information centers abroad to support tourism promotion in various sectors, Indonesian Tourism Humanity Friendship Forum (Fosipa) chairman H Sarbini said here on Wednesday.

"It is time for the government to open tourism information centers at every Indonesian embassy to net more foreign tourists visiting Indonesia," Sarbini said.

He said the opening of tourism information centers was also part of an effort to increase the number of foreign tourist who would like to visit Indonesia.

Sarbini said that although the government has made every effort to increase the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia, the reopening of tourism information centers at Indonesian embassies would still be important.

Although he admitted that the government would need a big amount of funds to establish the centers abroad, the best possible way out should be sought to realize it.

"Tourism promotion abroad cannot be made independently without involving tourism agents," he said.

He added that the development of tourism in Indonesia should be followed by the development and management of tourism objects and destinations across the country.

"In addition, tourism facilities and infrastructure should also be prepared to make tourists feel at home," Sarbini said.
