Yemen to enhance trade competitive abilities among IORARC States

SANA'A, April 29 (Saba) - Ministry of Industry and Trade organized
here on Wednesday a workshop on Indian Ocean Rim Association for
Regional Cooperation (IORARC)'s plan aiming at increasing Yemen's
trade competitive abilities among the member states in the
association.

Opening the workshop, Minister of Industry and Trade Yahya
al-Mutawakil affirmed that the global financial crisis and its
consequences require activating the economic coalitions, noting the
importance of such coalitions in supporting the sustainable
development.

The Minister revealed a proposal for setting up a national committee
for following up the available agreements within the association
frame, confirming that Yemen could not yet avail properly from the
privileges offered by the IORARC.

In the workshop, eight papers were reviewed in the workshop
introducing the association and Yemen's role in the association as
well as establishing the early-warning and information system at the
territorial level to reduce the natural disaster risks in Yemeni
Mayyon Island and Socotra archipelago.

The workshop held in coordination with Foreign Ministry aims at
reviewing all aspects related to Yemen's relations with the
association' member states for expanding the commercial exchange and
economic integration and activating tourist movement and investments
between Yemen and the member States.
